Bermuda Golf

Bermuda is a golf-lover's dream with year-round play and a variety of beautiful and challenging courses (more per square mile than any other place on earth), most of which are open to the public. Bermuda is also host to a number of tournaments, including the Bermuda Senior Golf Classic and the Bermuda Masters International Golf Classic (see our Events Calendar for details).

Here is information on each of Bermuda's nine courses:

Belmont Hills Golf and Country Club
Set in a lush garden estate with lovely views of the Great Sound.

  • Designed by Emmitt Devereaux
  • 18 holes
  • Par 70
  • 6,000 yards
  • Phone (441) 236-6400

Horizons
Guests at Horizons & Cottages have priority but the general public is welcome.

  • 9 hole
  • Par 27
  • "mashie" course, meaning you won't need much more than your 7-iron
  • Phone (441) 236-0048

Mid Ocean Club
A private club, playable by member introduction only. (Note that the concierge at your hotel may be able to help you with the introduction.) Notable players have included Dwight D. Eisenhower and Winston Churchill.

  • Designed by Charles Blair Macdonald in the 1920s; gently modified by Robert Trent Jones in the 1950s
  • 18 holes
  • Par 71
  • 6,519 yards
  • Phone (441) 293-0330

Ocean View Golf Club
Owned and operated by the Bermuda Government. The site of the clubhouse here was once a grand old manor house known as Watlington House, which was used by the British Army during WWII. Both picturesque and challenging.

  • 9 holes
  • Par 35
  • 2,819 yards
  • Phone (441) 295-9093

Port Royal Golf Course
Owned and operated by the Bermuda Government. Situated in some of Bermuda's most lush and beautiful oceanside terrain, Port Royal is Bermuda's most popular course.

  • Designed by Robert Trent Jones
  • 18 holes
  • Par 71
  • 6,565 yards
  • Phone (441) 234-0972

Riddell's Bay Golf and Country Club
Bermuda's oldest course has enticed golfers the world over since 1922. Features tight fairways and small narrow greens. A private club, playable by member introduction only. (Note that the concierge at your hotel may be able to help you with the introduction.)

  • 18 holes
  • Par 69
  • 5,588 yards
  • Phone (441) 238-1060

Southampton Princess Golf Course
Ben Wright called Southampton "the best 18-hole par 3 course I have ever played." The course features one of the islands loftiest and most scenic settings plus ample water hazards, elevated tees and 60 strategically placed bunkers. It is great for those with a short stay, since it averages just two and one-half hours playing time.

  • Designed by Ted Robinson
  • 18 holes
  • Par 54
  • 2,684 yards
  • Phone (441) 238-0446

St. George's Golf Club
Owned and operated by the Bermuda Government. A links-type course with ocean views on every hole and easy access to the historic attractions in the city of St. George's.

  • Designed by Robert Trent Jones
  • 18 holes
  • Par 62
  • 4,043 yards
  • Phone (441) 297-8353

Tucker's Point Golf Club
Unforgettable views, including what many consider the most scenic opening hole in the world. Formerly known as Castle Harbour.

  • Designed by Charles Banks; dramatically re-designed by Roger Rulewich
  • 18 holes
  • Par 70
  • 6,361 yards
  • Phone (441) 298-6970

Consistent with Bermuda's culture, proper golf attire is required at all clubs (shirts must have collars and sleeves; shorts must be Bermuda-length; jeans, gym shorts and cut-offs are not acceptable).

Having trouble deciding where to play? Consider this: when the editors at Travel + Leisure Golf surveyed their readers, the Mid Ocean Club was the only Bermudan course that scored among the top three favorites among all courses in Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Caribbean.

For more information about each course, contact the club directly. For additional details about Bermuda golf tournaments, contact the Bermuda Golf Association at (441) 295-5772 or at P.O. Box HM 433, Hamilton HM BX.
