University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology
33rd and Spruce Streets
Philadelphia
(215) 898-4000

What You Will See
The Museum's collection includes more than a million objects from ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Mesoamerica, Asia and the Greco-Roman world, much of it acquired through archaeological digs sponsored by the University. You'll also see items from the native peoples of North America, Africa and Polynesia.

Highlights include Egyptian mummies and artifacts, a majestic feathered cloak that once belonged to an Hawaiian nobleman, a 12-ton granite Sphinx from Ramesses II, and our favorite, a majestic 17th century lion that stands guard at the entrance to the Museum's Chinese Rotunda.

Getting There
By car, take the Schuylkill Expressway (Rt. 76). Turn west at the light at the top of the exit ramp. The Museum is on the left past the next light.  The main entrance is at the corner of Spruce and 33rd Street. Parking is available in garages behind the Museum on Convention Boulevard.

By bus, take SEPTA bus numbers 21 and 42 and stop at 33rd & Spruce Streets; or bus number 40 and stop at Convention Blvd. at South Street.

By subway, take the green line, numbers 11, 13, 34 and 36 to 33rd and Chestnut/Walnut Streets and 36th and Spruce Streets. The Museum is also a short walk from the 34th Street exit of the Market-Frankford subway and from the 30th Street Station.

Other Logistics
The Museum's cafe offers cafeteria-style meals and snacks in a pleasant glass-enclosed space that overlooks the inner gardens.

Gallery tours (free with admission) are available most Saturdays and Sundays at 1:30 PM from mid-September through mid-May.

For more information, see the Museum's web site.
