San Francisco Museum
of Modern Art (SFMOMA)

SFMOMA's
new building, which was designed by Mario
Botta and opened in 1995, has attracted
positive reviews from the design
community. It is also the second largest
exhibition space for modern art in the
United States. But as interesting as the
structure itself is, the museum's
collection of more than 15,000 works of
art, including pieces by Frida Kahlo,
Matisse, Picasso, Jackson Pollack, Geogia
O'Keefe and Andy Warhol; SFMOMA's
holdings of 9,000 photographs; and the
world-class temporary exhibitions are the
real reason to visit. For the latest
information about SFMOMA hours, admission
fees and special exhibits, we recommend a
visit to the museums's web
site.
The Museum Store
We recommend a stop in the
museum's shop, which is the leading art
bookstore in the Bay Area, as well as a
premier destination for contemporary art
and design products for travelers
everywhere. Don't have time to drop by
while you're at the museum? The SFMOMA
MuseumStore now has two other locations:
Four Embarcadero Center on the Lobby
Level, and Departure Level at the new SFO
International Terminal.
