Visit the New England Wild Flower Society
There has been lots of talk lately, about climate change, conservation and the like. Last weekend's Earth Day celebrations only added to the hoopla. But while we agree that conservation is a serious issue, we like the approach the New England Wild Flower Society has taken with their upcoming environmental art exhibition called "Art Goes Wild: Innovation With Native Plants," which opens at Garden in the Woods in Framingham, MA on Saturday May 19 and runs through the end of October. Devised as part of the celebration of the Garden's 75th anniversary, the exhibit shows that your garden can be devoted to the green cause, and still be playful, optimistic, and amazingly vivid. If you are in the Boston area in the next several months, we urge you to see for yourself -- by viewing the exhibition and/or taking in one of the Society's talks on the subject -- how you can make the more sustainable choice of growing native plants in your own garden without sacrificing a smidgeon of aethetic sophistication.
