San Francisco's 49-Mile Drive
San Francisco is 49 square miles. City advocates took that fact and began to promote the 49-Mile Drive as a means of providing visitors with an overview of San Francisco's scenic attractions and historic highlights. The easy-to-follow trail is marked by blue and white seagull signs that lead you through a winding city route. Click here for a list of the sights included in the 49-mile drive, beginning at the intersection of Hayes Street and Van Ness Avenue, at the Civic Center in downtown San Francisco.
