New York City
Transit Museum Corner of Boerum
Place and Schermerhorn Street
Brooklyn
(718) 243-8601
The
museum is located in a restored 1930's
IND subway station. Exhibits explore the
history of the New York subway system. We
especially like the ongoing display
related to the building of the subway
system between 1900 and 1925 -- the
photos give you a real feel for the
intensity of the work involved. And don't
miss the museum shop for a chance to buy
old tokens and other neat subway stuff.
To get there, take the A, C,
or G to the Hoyt-Schermerhorn stop; the F
to Jay Street; the M, N or R to Court
Street; or the 2 or 3 to Borough Hall.
