South Street Seaport
Museum 12 Fulton Street
(between Front and South streets)
(212) 748-8590
Visiting
the South Street Seaport Museum's
galleries is just the beginning of your
chance to step back in time and trace the
history of the Port of New York, and its
commercial and cultural impact on the
city. Make sure you step outside the
galleries and visit the nearby ships. The
museum owns the country's largest fleet
of historical ships, including: Peking,
1911; Wavertree, 1885; and Ambrose,
1908 (all of which are permanently moored
at the museum pier and are open for
public visitation) as well as Pioneer,
1885; Lettie G. Howard, 1893; and W.O.
Decker, 1930 (which offer sail
training, public sails and charter
opportunities).
For more information about
what there is to see and do at the South
Street Seaport (where there is ALWAYS
something fun happening) and for hours,
admission fees, and directions, visit the
museums's web site.
